What is a Will and why is it important?
A Will is a legal document that sets out your wishes as to what happens to your money, property and possessions, known as your estate, when you have passed away.
If you pass away without a Will, known as intestate, then the state will decide who benefits from your estate meaning that the people that you want to inherit could receive nothing.
You spend your life working hard to care for you and your loved ones therefore you should be able to decide as who will benefit from your estate instead of the rules of intestacy making the decision for you.
A Will makes it easier for your loved ones to deal with your estate. Without a Will, the process of dealing with your estate can be more stressful and time consuming at a time that is already difficult for your loved ones.
Everyone needs a Will whether you are newly married, divorced, have young children or seeing your children fly the nest. Your Will should also be updated when life events occur.
