Child Abduction
Legal help for child abduction in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
It is an offence for a child under the age of 16 to be taken outside of the UK without the appropriate consent, yet it happens all too often. If you, or anyone you know, has suffered from child abducted then speak to us. We can help bring them back and stop it happening again.
The Child Abduction Act 1984 protects parents and guardians of children by making it illegal to take or send children abroad without their agreement. The offence becomes criminal if the child is taken from within the UK without the consent of one of the following:
- the mother or father (whichever has parental responsibility for the child)
- the guardian
- any person with a residence order for the child
- any person with a custody order for the child
- the local authority (if the child is in care)
- the Family Proceedings Court (if there is a Place of Safety Order).
If you fear that an abduction has already happened or is likely to occur then speak to us immediately. It is vital that you seek legal advice as early as possible.
When dealing with child abduction, Passmores Solicitors offers a sympathetic and approachable yet dedicated service. We prove our commitment to this issue by being one of only two firms in Wales that are members of Reunite, the international child abduction organisation.
