Passmores Solicitors is an established and well-known legal practice based in the centre of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Since its establishment in the 1920’s the firm has been providing expert legal advice to the people and businesses of Barry and Cardiff. In 1997 Passmores merged with LW Lewis and Jacobs Solicitors making us one of the largest legal firms in the Vale of Glamorgan.
We are a firm containing four partners, one of whom has a judicial appointment, meaning they often preside over court as a judge. This gives us an exceptionally high level of experience, which we call upon when advising you on your legal issues.

Staff Profiles
Neil Willetts

Neil graduated from the University College of Wales Aberystwyth, qualified as solicitor in 1978 and has since practiced with Passmores. He became a partner in 1981.
Neil is a general practitioner with particular interest in employment law, charities and the elderly client. He is a member of both the Law Society’s probate section and Solicitors for the Elderly.
Catherine Roblin

Catherine qualified as a solicitor in 1985 and became a partner in 1990.
Catherine deals with children matters in both private and public law proceedings. She also deals with issues arising from relationship breakdown, this includes divorce and financial ancillary relief proceedings, civil partnerships, cohabitee disputes, domestic violence, pre-nuptial agreements and all issues relating to children including care proceedings instigated by local authorities.
Catherine specialises in cases of child abduction and international child law and is a member of both Reunite and Resolution.
Catherine is an accredited member of the Law Society Family Law Advanced Panel and the Children Panel. In addition Catherine is a solicitor advocate who has higher rights of audience in the civil courts.
She also acts as a trustee for a local Women’s Aid and sits part time as a Tribunal Judge.
Jonathan Henry Gifford

Jonathan graduated in law at University College of Wales Aberystwyth and trained with Dolmans of Cardiff. He qualified as a solicitor in 1976 and became a partner at LW Lewis & Jacobs in 1979.
He deals with commercial and residential property matters and business requirements. He is one of the firm’s financial managers and is a company director and trustee of a large trust settlement, which he conducts as part of his professional work.
Jonathan is a member of Lions International, whose motto is ‘We Serve’ and is a founder member of the Barry Club.
Sally Matthews

Sally joined the firm in 1996 and qualified as a solicitor in 1999 becoming a partner in 2002.
Sally has many years experience in dealing with divorce/civil partnerships, high asset ancillary relief work, cohabitation disputes, pre-nuptial agreements, private Children Act cases and domestic violence issues.
Sally is an accredited specialist member of Resolution in ancillary relief and domestic violence.
Sally is a trustee for a local Women’s Aid and governor of a junior school.
T.G. Hughes

Glyn qualified as a solicitor in 1976 after spending two years training with a commercial solicitors practice in the City of London.
After joining Passmores in 1976 he helped to develop the firm’s expertise in child care case becoming one of the first solicitors in Barry to be appointed to the Law Society Children’s Panel.
Glyn became a partner with Mr Cyril Passmore in 1978 and in 1994 was appointed a legal member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal where currently he is a vice chair for Wales. In the same year he received his second judicial post when he was appointed to what has become the Tribunals Service where he is a part-time tribunal judge.
More than 30 years in the practice has given Glyn a very wide experience of issues facing clients and businesses which include road haulage companies where he has represented them at Magistrates’ Court and at public enquiries before the Traffic Commissioners.
Carli Evans

Carli graduated from Cardiff University in 2003 followed by the Legal Practice Course also at Cardiff University in 2004.
Carli qualified as a solicitor in summer 2006 and joined Passmores as a private client solicitor shortly thereafter.
Carli has particular experience in Wills, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection work but also has a general interest in elderly client matters and conveyancing.
She is a fluent Welsh speaker and is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly. She is currently undertaking a Diploma to become a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
She has conducted talks for the Alzheimer's Society, local womens guilds meetings and for Age Concern.
Julie Morgan

Julie joined Pasmores in 1979 and has been a valued member of the practice ever since.
Having spent more than 30 years in Passmores, Julie has gained valuable legal and practical experience. Having obtained further qualifications with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, Julie has developed to become the practice’s conveyancing executive dealing with all aspects of residential conveyancing.
Jacqui Patterson

Jacqui is our legal cashier and practice manager but has worked with Passmores for a considerable number of years and from her experience has a good working knowledge of many aspects of work in a solicitors office and has previously been one of our legal executive conveyancers.
Jacqui is a member of the Institute of Legal Cashiers and deals with all aspects of the accounting within the office including frequently dealing directly with the clients as well as the partners and support staff in relation to all cash and accounts matters. As practice manager Jacqui is called upon to deal with a very large variety of issues for both the clients, partners and staff on a daily basis.
Jacqui also has a very good working knowledge of all our Legal Services Commission publicly funded contract work.
